How the challenge works
You save a small amount in week 1 and increase it by a fixed step each week for 52 weeks. In the classic version you start with $1 and add $1 per week: the final week's deposit is $52 and the year's total comes to $1,378. The power of the challenge isn't the math — it's turning saving into a weekly habit.
Adapt it to your budget
If the growing deposits feel heavy near the holidays, reverse it (start at the top and decrease), keep a flat amount every week (increase of zero), or shrink the step. Doubling the classic to $2/week yields $2,756; a flat $20/week yields $1,040. Consistency beats size — adjust the inputs above until the plan is one you'll actually keep.
Where to put the money
Park the deposits in a high-yield savings account so they earn interest while the challenge runs and stay out of everyday spending.
