How the conversion works
Multiply the hourly rate by hours per week, then by weeks per year: annual = rate × hours/week × weeks/year. At $25/hour, 40 hours a week, 52 weeks, that is 25 × 40 × 52 = $52,000 a year. The monthly figure is the annual divided by 12.
Watch the weeks and unpaid time
The 52-week default assumes you are paid every week, including vacation. If you take unpaid time off, lower the weeks-per-year figure — two unpaid weeks turns 52 into 50 and cuts the annual total accordingly. Hourly workers without paid leave should do this to get a realistic number.
Hourly vs salaried is not just the number
A matching salary is not always an equal deal. Salaried roles often include paid leave, health benefits and job security that raw hourly pay does not, while hourly work can pay overtime that many salaried roles do not. Compare total compensation, not just the converted figure.
