How the count works
The difference is measured on the real calendar, respecting each month's length. From Jan 1, 2026 to Jul 6, 2026 is 6 months and 5 days, or 6 full months. That is more accurate than dividing the days by 30, because months run from 28 to 31 days.
Full months vs the fraction
Many agreements count full months (loan payments, waiting periods, tenure). A month only "completes" when you reach the same day in the next month: Jan 15 to Feb 14 has not finished a month; Jan 15 to Feb 15 has. The calculator uses exactly that rule.
Where it is used
It fits contract and loan durations, subscription length, warranty and coverage periods, and gaps between events. For a person's age in years, months and days, use the age calculator; for tenure at a job, the length of service calculator.
