How weeks are counted

The calculator counts the calendar days between the two dates and divides by 7. From Jan 1 to Jan 22 is 21 days, or exactly 3 weeks. When the gap is not a multiple of seven, it also shows the whole weeks and the leftover days — for example, "3 weeks and 4 days".

Where weeks are the natural unit

Weeks are how we track pregnancy (gestational age is measured in weeks), training blocks, treatment courses and project sprints. Measuring in weeks gives a clearer sense of progress than a loose day count, and it lines up neatly with paydays and weekly planning.

Decimal weeks vs whole weeks

Notice the difference between the decimal (e.g. 3.57 weeks) and the whole weeks (3 weeks and 4 days). For "how many weeks to go" the whole-week reading communicates better; for proportional math — pay, rent, dosing schedules — the decimal is more precise.
