How business days are counted
The calculator counts the days from the day after the start date through the end date, keeping only Monday to Friday. Weekends are excluded. Order does not matter — it sorts the two dates for you and returns a positive count.
Holidays are not included
This counts weekends out, but not public holidays — those vary by country, state and even city, so a general calculator cannot know yours. If a national holiday falls inside your range on a weekday, subtract it from the result manually.
Where it matters
Shipping and processing times ("3–5 business days"), payment and invoice terms, notice periods and project planning all run on working days. Counting calendar days instead can overstate how soon something is due by two days for every weekend in the window.
